National Farmers’ Day 2024: Honoring Farmers and the Legacy of Kisan Diwas

Every year on December 23rd, National Farmers’ Day, also called Kisan Diwas, is observed to recognize the important part that farmers have played in India’s food production and growth in economy.

The day is especially significant since it celebrates the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the fifth prime minister of India, who committed his life to developing agricultural changes to improve farmer welfare.

The Chaudhary Legacy Singh Charan

Chaudhary In India, Charan Singh is known as a farmer’s advocate. He introduced a number of plans during his 1979–1980 term as prime minister with the goal of raising rural India, improving the quality of life for farmers, and resolving the problems that the agricultural community faced.

Because of his direction and commitment to farming, he was given the title “Kisan Putra,” which means to “son of the farmer,” showing his close ties to the farming industry.

On National Farmers’ Day, people take time to consider how crucial farming is to India’s progress. India’s economy is mostly based on agriculture, and millions of farmers toil hard to feed the country and support its growth.
